A Very Unique Program Providing a Caring Environment

The Caring Friends Intergenerational Nursery School is a unique program of Nathan Littauer Hospital and Nursing Home. It is the area's only program in which pre-school children and senior citizens interact on a daily basis, allowing both to learn, love and share. The list below includes answers to some of the most commonly asked questions about the program.


Who may enroll?

Classes are available for children ages 3 and 4 years.


When do classes meet?

Tuesday and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for the 3 year olds Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for the 4 year olds.


Where do classes meet?

Classes meet in the activities room at the Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home.


What will my child learn?

This is a program in which children will learn prereading and prewriting skills and will develop listening and language skills in a variety of developmentally appropriate play activities. Interaction between children and nursing home residents is encouraged.


What does the program cost?

Fifty dollars per month for the 3-year-old class. Seventy-five dollars per month for the 4-year-old class.


Will vacation days conflict with the rest of my family's schedule?

Caring Friends is on the same vacation schedule as the Gloversville School System.


Who will teach my child?

Professional teachers integrate curriculum with stories, songs, finger plays and love in this unique intergenerational environment.
