O'Rourke Recognized as Littauer’s Goodwill Recipient! Gloversville…
Veronica O'Rourke was recently awarded the Nathan Littauer Hospital and Nursing Home’s Goodwill Award. Veronica, who has been employed at Littauer's Speculator Primary Care Center for 7 years, currently works as Office Coordinator.
Veronica was nominated by a coworker who observed Veronica going "above and beyond for her community". On November 21, the towns of Speculator and Arietta lost power for 3 1/2 days. During that time Veronica took food from her freezers and cupboards and went to the Community Hall and began preparing hot meals for those people not fortunate enough to own a generator. She and other town members took shifts cooking, contacting people by phone to alert them to the service they were providing and even venturing out to assist in transportation of those in need. In addition to this, Veronica took three community members into her home to provide warmth, as they had no heat source in their homes.
"Veronica exemplifies the mission of the Hospital and Nursing Home with this random act of kindness for her community", states Laurence Kelly, President and CEO of Littauer.
"I think nothing of it" states O'Rourke. "I try to live my life by being kind and by teaching my children those same values."
Veronica resides in Piseco with her husband Tim and their three children, T.J., Patrick and Chris. ***
