Adolescent Obesity and Diabetes Program Scheduled by Littauer
Gloversville...
The Nathan Littauer Hospital Diabetes Recognition Team has scheduled “The Emerging Epidemic: Adolescent Obesity and Diabetes” for Thursday, February 23, from 1pm-4pm in the Nathan Littauer Hospital Auditorium.
This program is designed to educate parents, children, school nurses, educators, and health care workers about the prevalence of obesity in adolescents and the relationship to Type 2 diabetes. Prevention and intervention measures will be discussed, as well as many other important issues.
“With the alarming incidence of diabetes in obese children, we really felt the need to offer this program,” explains Kathie Rohrs, BSN, RN, team leader for Littauer’s Diabetes Recognition team. “We will incorporate information from many different disciplines in an effort to present a comprehensive and useful program for all who attend.”
Presentations will be given by Littauer’s pediatrician Richard Solby, DO; Roseanne Doran, educator for Cornell Cooperative Extension; Jeff Rhodes, physical therapist; Rick Blowers, physical therapy assistant; Kathy Mennillo, registered dietician; Lynn Pawloski, social worker; Sue McNeil, assistant/program director Camp SuperStarrs; and Kathie Rohrs, BSN, RN.
This is a free program. Please call Littauer’s Education department by February 16 at 773-5495 to register.
