Littauer's Cardiopulmonary Rehab Department offers new program

Gloversville...

The Cardiopulmonary Rehab Department at Nathan Littauer Hospital recently opened a Phase 3 program for their cardiac rehab patients. This new phase builds on the program that has been established at Littauer for over 15 years.

Phase 3 allows for more independence, while still maintaining a supervised environment. “This is a great program”, states Maria Calhoun, a phase 3 participant. “After having open-heart surgery two years ago, I finally have more energy and I feel stronger. It also makes it easier when you have such excellent therapists. They are always here when you need them. I strongly recommend this program for anyone who has had open-heart surgery. It is fabulous!”

“This program acts as an extension to Phase 2 by implementing the knowledge the patient has learned, and the lifestyle changes that they have made, in the Phase 3 program”, explains Rhonda Snell, certified respiratory therapist. “Patients like the benefit of being supervised by professionals, while still having the freedom to exercise on their own.”

The phase 3 program requires a physician referral. If you are interested in finding out more about Littauer’s cardiac rehab program, call 773-5630 for more information.
