Littauer Continues Standard of Excellence with the
Latest Imaging Technology
Gloversville...
Nathan Littauer Hospital and Nursing Home recently
purchased the newest advance in ultrasound imaging technology, LOGIQ 9
3-D Ultrasound from GE Medical Systems. Littauer is one of the first
facilities in the area to utilize the new 3-D Ultrasound.
"The LOGIQ 9 is an exciting new advance in
ultrasound imaging technology because it is a fundamentally different
way of acquiring and viewing ultrasound images," said Terra Stowell,
Senior Ultrasound Tech. "It can take the traditional single plane
image and reconstruct it into three dimensions. This allows for better
detail and a more in depth image which translates into a more conclusive
diagnosis and more efficient ultrasound exams for our patients."
The expanded 3D imaging capabilities are a
significant improvement over the traditional ultrasound. "We’re
excited about 3D imaging," said Stowell. "It is a great asset
for our patients. We intend to use it for abdomen, breast, obstetrics,
gynecological and vascular imaging."
The LOGIQ 9 also allows the sonographer to apply live
scanning techniques to stored images. "Applying live scanning
techniques to stored images is important because it will help eliminate
having a patient come back to the department for a second ultrasound
exam, which can be inconvenient for patients", explains Stowell.
"Littauer strives to offer the most advanced
health care right here, in this community", states Laurence Kelly
Littauer's President and CEO. "If we can provide that safely, we
will."
