Littauer Candystriper Receives Award

Gloversville…

Lyndsey Bacon, Candystriper for Nathan Littauer Hospital and Nursing Home is the recipient of the Fulton County Soroptimists "Violet Richardson Award for Volunteerism". The Soroptimists established the Violet Richardson Award to honor the memory of this unique woman and her dedication to volunteer action. Violet was committed to creating opportunities for girls and young women. Violet's dedication to the causes of young women and her devotion to improving life in her community were an inspiration to everyone who knew her. Lyndsey was presented with this award because of her dedication to the Candystriper program and her interest in the medical profession.

To qualify for this award Lyndsey had to write an essay about volunteering in the community. "The CandyStriper Junior Volunteer program is an excellent program for those who wish to pursue a career in the healthcare field", writes Bacon. "I feel that I have accomplished a strong basis for my future and I feel that I have a much deeper understanding of the patient's outlook, as well as the staff's empathy when dealing with patients."

The Violet Richardson program also presented Littauer with a $200 donation on behalf of the Fulton County Soroptimists and in recognition of Lyndsey's long standing commitment to Nathan Littauer Hospital.

"Lyndsey's commitment to Littauer is inspiring", states Laurence E. Kelly, Littauer’s President/CEO. "We are lucky to have such a dedicated person in the volunteer program."
