Littauer Auxiliary Receives Nomination

Gloversville…

The Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS) recently nominated the Nathan Littauer Hospital and Nursing Home Auxiliary for the Community Health Improvement Award. This nomination recognizes outstanding initiatives to improve health and well being in the community.

The Auxiliary collaborated with the Fulton County Association for Retarded Children's Lexington Center Johnstown Day Program to develop a volunteer program for Lexington Center individuals to volunteer at the Hospital and Nursing Home as needed and according to the individuals abilities. This allows a connection to develop between Littauer and Lexington Center and for the hospital's volunteer program to expand into the community.

"These individuals have an unbelievable amount of determination and make wonderful volunteers", states Sue McNeil, Director of Volunteer Services. "They are happy to assist in any way they can and are excited that we need them."

"The Lexington Center Volunteer Project is another approach to building an integral relationship with the community", states Laurence E. Kelly, Littauer’s President/CEO. "We are proud to offer this program at Littauer."
