Littauer to Hold Chemical Decontamination Drill
Gloversville…
If you have an appointment at or are planning a visit to Nathan Littauer Hospital, Nursing Home or one of Littauer’s six Primary Care Centers on Wednesday morning, June 7, you may witness a chemical decontamination drill complete with staging tent, protective gear and decontamination shelter. The drill will be in response to a planned "chemical accident" where "victims" will be transported to the Hospital for decontamination and assessment. This drill will be observed and evaluated by New York State Department of Health experts in emergency preparedness as well as Fulton County Civil Defense, Gloversville Fire Department, Fulton County Emergency Medical Services and Montgomery County Emergency Management.
Organized by Littauer’s Security and Emergency Preparedness supervisor Carrie Newkirk and Safety Officer Joe Slovack, the drill will test Littauer’s response to a mass casualty event. "We will test the Homeland Security/FEMA Incident Command System which brings agencies together in a unified command to manage an incident or disaster," said Newkirk.
The drill is expected to last for three hours, beginning at approximately 9am. *** |
