Littauer upgrades patient rooms! Gloversville…
Nathan Littauer Hospital and Nursing Home recently purchased new furniture for all patient rooms within the Hospital. The furniture being replaced includes 69 new patient beds, with accompanying bedside stands and overbed tables. Guest furniture for all rooms was also purchased.
"The furniture has been used for at least 30 years and it was time to replace," said Nancy Travis, Littauer’s director of materials management.
"The new Stryker beds were selected because of the accurate, repeatable in-bed scale for patients in any position", explains Cathy Burek, RN, manager Med/Surg. "This feature is invaluable for patients in traction or otherwise confined to their bed. We are also impressed with the bed’s advanced fall prevention features."
Most of the old patient beds are being donated to the American Medical Resources Foundation (AMRF) in Massachusetts. The AMRF donates used, but functional medical equipment to hospitals serving the poor worldwide. The beds will be given to a hospital in Calcutta, India. The bed donation is coordinated by Bob Shwajlyk, Littauer’s assistant controller. Other beds were donated to FMCC’s nursing program. *** |
