Littauer Purchases Decontamination Shelter

Gloversville…

Nathan Littauer Hospital and Nursing Home recently purchased a Reeves Rapid Deployable Decontamination Shower/Shelter through a grant from the New York State Department of Health. The shower/shelter will be used to protect the patients and staff of the hospital by decontaminating incoming patients with exposures to chemical, biological, or radiological elements before treatment.

"We were awarded this grant in order to prepare for and implement emergency management protocol", states David Bruhns, director of engineering. "The shelter is erected quickly, allowing us to prevent against chemical, biological or radiological contamination entering the facility."

The decontamination shelter may also be used by first responders such as the fire department. The tent can be erected and the patient(s) can be decontaminated prior to entering the ambulance, in order to prevent contaminating the ambulance.
