Littauer Announces New Board Members

Gloversville....

Matthew Kearney, DDS, chairman of the Board of Directors of Nathan Littauer Hospital and Nursing Home and president of the Board of Directors of Colonial Healthcare Corp. recently announced the appointments of Shriraj Shah, MD of Gloversville and Robert Munn of Perth to the all volunteer, community boards of both the Hospital and Colonial Healthcare.

Dr. Shah, board-certified in family medicine, has practiced in Gloversville since 1993. He was appointed to the Nathan Littauer Hospital medical staff that same year where he eventually chaired Peer Review and Credentials Committees as well as being elected vice chief and then chief of staff. During his tenure as Chief of Staff, Dr. Shah was the medical staff liaison to the Hospital Board, gaining experience and insight into hospital governance. When asked to join the board as a community representative, Dr. Shah said, "It is an honor to represent my community in this way. Our Hospital is a valuable resource and I am excited to combine my knowledge of medicine with what the health care needs of our community are and help plan Littauer's future." He is on the Fulton County YMCA Board.

Robert Munn was a teacher in the Broadalbin School System for 10 years before serving 14 years as High School principal in both the Broadalbin and the Broadalbin-Perth Central Schools. He continued in administration as part of the Broadalbin-Perth Central School District, serving as assistant superintendent for Finance and Operations for 10 years and superintendent of schools for three and one-half years until his retirement in March of 2006.

"Joining the Nathan Littauer Board of Directors was an easy decision for me based on my firm belief in the importance of giving back to the community through service," explains Munn. "I find the opportunity to serve as a director especially appealing, since I've always held health care professionals in the highest esteem. Furthermore, I believe that the availability of top-notch health care is a major quality of life issue for the residents of our local communities. I'm excited about the prospect of the opening of the new Nathan Littauer Center that will be located in the Perth-Broadalbin area and look forward to becoming a strong advocate for Nathan Littauer in Eastern Fulton and Montgomery Counties."

Munn currently serves as a member of the Board of Ethics for the Town of Perth. He is an active member and past President of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association. In addition, he served as a volunteer fireman for 20 years and remains on exempt status from the Broadalbin Kennyetto Fire Department. He also was member and past President of the Broadalbin Rotary Club and has spent a number of years serving on the Broadalbin Youth Commission.

"We are delighted to have these talented individuals as leaders on our Board," states Laurence E. Kelly, Littauer's president and CEO. "Their professional expertise combined with strong commitments to providing world class healthcare in our community will be invaluable."
