Rodecker Becomes Certified in Wound Care

Gloversville…

Pat Rodecker, RN, clinical coordinator in the Nursing Home, recently received her wound care certification after completing an intensive five-day wound and skin management course offered by the Wound Care Education Institute (WCEI). The training was also approved by the National Association of Wound Care (NAWC). To be eligible for the training, the participant needs two years of prior wound care experience. At the conclusion of the training a certification exam is given.

Rodecker says she has been interested in wound care for over 15 years and has attended numerous conferences. "I like to stay up to date on the latest in wound care and skin management," states Rodecker. "It allows me to assist in providing the best care possible to our residents. This is a very important area in health care and this certification has definitely increased my knowledge and understanding of wound care."

"We encourage our employees to stay informed of new developments in all aspects of patient care", states Laurence Kelly, Littauer's president and CEO. "Doing so demonstrates our commitment to providing high quality healthcare to the community."

The certification is renewable every five years, which consists of 60 hours of education, community outreach, and a final project. Rodecker is the first person in the Nursing Home to become certified in wound care. She has been employed at Littauer for 15 years.
