DIRECTOR OF PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT- Hospital

Job Purpose:  The purpose of this job is to implement and coordinate the Hospital’s Performance Improvement, Risk Management and Patient Safety programs in accordance with the organization’s mission and strategic plan, Federal and State statues and regulations, and the requirements of the Hospital’s general and professional liability carrier.

The essential job functions of this position include but not limited to:

  • Designs, implements and coordinates the Hospital’s Performance Improvement and Risk Management Programs in accordance with the organization’s mission and strategic plan, Federal and State statues and regulations, and requirements of the Hospital general and professional liability carriers.
  • Coordinates the Hospital’s Risk Management Program.
  • Coordinates the Patient Safety Program as the Patient Safety Officer.
  • Coordinates the Medical Staff Performance Improvement Program
  • Functions as the Coordinator for DNV survey preparation and surveys
  • Coordinates NYS DOH visits, responses to patient complaints submitted to the Department.
  • Acts as the Patient Complaint Officer
  • Prepares bimonthly summary report of PI activities for review by the PI committee of the Board.                            

Requires:

  • AAS with 3 years experience or minimum 3-5 years equivalent education or experience in the Healthcare field
  • 3 years experience in the fields of Healthcare performance/quality improvement, medical staff administration, and/or risk management
  • CPHQ- Certified Professional In Health Quality
  • Possess a working knowledge of confidentiality policy, Medical Records’ policies and procedures for the tasks to be performed
  • Possess a basic knowledge of health record content and sequence

Prefers:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing-AAS-BS
  • CQI, NYS experience

NURSE EDUCATOR CLINICAL COORDINATOR

Description: Provides expertise as an educator, consultant, facilitator, change agent, leader and researcher. Designs, develops, delivers, and evaluates education and informatic strategies.  Coordinates programs and initiatives based on patient, department, organization and regulatory needs.  Performs as a clinical resource, providing evaluation of the practice environment and quality or nursing care delivered and facilitates the generation and use of research and evidence based on nursing practice.  Aims to improve electronic health record accuracy and efficiency related to documentation and critical data analysis with the common goal of improving overall patient care.

As part of Nursing Administration, functions may include clinical resource liaison with NYSED to clarify/resolve clinical practice issues. Assists in the integration of electronic/written data, information and knowledge to support decision-making by patients and their healthcare providers.  Works with Education Department in planning of annual Competency Workshops.  Participates in DNV Accreditation activities and has knowledge of DNV requirements along with state and federal agencies.

Requires:

  • NYS RN License ~ current and valid
  • BSN or equivalent education
  • AHA BLS certification
  • Medication certification
  • Three (3) years of acute experience to include MED/SURG

Prefers:

  • Masters of Science degree in nursing
  • Previous training in MEDITECH applications
  • Certified Nurse Educator
  • One (1) year experience in nursing management

Description: Organizes, conducts, and directs nursing care programs for all patients.  Ensures inventory standards are adhered to in all areas.

Supervises nursing functions on assigned shift in accordance with physician orders and facility policies.  Supervises and evaluates staff.

Requires:

  • A.A.S. in Nursing
  • NYS RN License ~ current and valid
  • Medication Competency Certification
  • BLS/ACLS Certified
  • Two (2) years of prior nursing exp.

Description: Renders nursing care to patients within an assigned unit under the clinical supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse, and in accordance with hospital/nursing home policies and objectives. Performs a wide variety of patient care services for assigned patients.

  • Successful completion/graduation from an accredited Practical Nurse Program
  • NYS LPN License ~ current and valid
  • BLS certified
  • Completion of IV course & blood administration course within 3 months of hire/accepting position
