Bone Density Scans

At Nathan Littauer Hospital, we offer bone densitometry (DEXA scan), a test performed for the assessment, prevention, and management of osteoporosis. Before DEXA scans were available, the only way to determine if a patient had osteoporosis was after a fracture. Now, DEXA scanning can measure the amount of calcium and other minerals in the bone to accurately predict your risk for osteoporosis.

The test is a quick and painless and lasts between 5 to 10 minutes.
