The Nathan Littauer Foundation Plans The EVENT 2023

(Las Vegas Style!)

GLOVERSVILLE, NY The Nathan Littauer Foundation is hosting an evening of Las Vegas style. The EVENT returns in 2023 as the Foundation serves up food and live entertainment to support the work of Nathan Littauer Hospital.

This year, the June 16 EVENT will be held at the Eccentric Club, located at 109 North Main Street, Gloversville, NY. Guests from the community, local business leaders, medical staff, Littauer employees, and longtime friends will come together for an evening of celebration and support for the vital work of the hospital.

Proceeds from this year’s fundraiser will be used for the purchase of Hematology and Urinalysis analyzers for the Littauer laboratory – equipment that will perform thousands of tests each year. “The new analyzers will automate specimen processing that has been done manually,” said Nathan Littauer Laboratory Manager Ronald Fortes. “Utilizing technology will produce more accurate test results and allow laboratory technologists to complete a larger volume of tests daily.” “The equipment is expensive, but we expect to raise the majority of the $200,000 price tag with this year’s fundraiser,” added Foundation Executive Director Geoffrey Peck.

Guests attending the EVENT will experience an atmosphere of real Vegas flash and style. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. and the entertainers take the stage beginning at 8:00 p.m. Hors d’oeuvres, a luxe Vegas buffet, carving stations, and signature sweets will be catered by Johnstown’s Union Hall Restaurant.

The Foundation Events Committee went over the top this year, booking three Vegas performers “Elvis” (Donny Elvis – Don Romines of Schenectady, NY), “Sinatra” (Frank Frizalone of Massapequa, NY), and Gloversville native, “Gracie Smilez.” (Anthony Leo).

Attendees will have the opportunity to bid on extraordinary silent auction offerings, with all proceeds directly benefiting the Nathan Littauer Foundation’s initiative.

“The EVENT is an opportunity to unite our community in supporting its hospital,” said Nathan Littauer President and CEO Sean Fadale, FACHE. “By attending our extraordinary gala, guests will not only enjoy a memorable evening but also contribute to the overall health and well-being of our community. Together, we can make a significant impact and ensure a brighter future for all.”

Nurturing Young Minds: Johnstown Teachers’ Association Donates to Littauer Birthing Center

Fostering Early Literacy Skills

GLOVERSVILLE, NY Nathan Littauer Hospital & Nursing Home’s Birthing Center received a donation from the Johnstown Teachers’ Association (JTA), Tuesday, May 9. JTA members Stephanie Di Visconti and Alaina Stokna, coordinated the donation with Nathan Littauer Birthing Center Manager Maureen Mosher. “We want our students to be amazing readers, and it starts at the infant stages,” said Di Visconti. “We were completing our annual drive, and we always think to support our community’s hospital.”

Recognizing the vital role that early literacy plays in a child’s cognitive and educational growth, the Johnstown Teachers’ Association embarked on a mission to provide valuable resources to Nathan Littauer Hospital’s Birthing Center. Through this donation, they will help to cultivate a nurturing environment that fosters early literacy skills and helps establish a strong foundation for future learning in those born at Littauer.

The collection of literature generously donated by the JTA encompasses a wide range of age-appropriate books, including picture books, interactive storybooks, and educational materials. These engaging and imaginative works of literature are carefully selected to captivate the minds of young readers and ignite a love for reading from an early age.

The JTA typically donates to Nathan Littauer’s Birthing Center annually. The JTA raised more than $200 of works of literature for parents to read to their infants, as well as helpful tips to encourage reading to them. The JTA’s donation will work to help promote the development of the necessary skill of reading in children. “We want our children to love books, and we look at this is an investment in the future of our community,” adds Di Visconti.

“We thank the JTA for their efforts in empowering parents to promote early literacy experience for their little ones,” says Mosher. “We’re so appreciative of the JTA’s yearly donation of ‘Books for Babies.’ Our mothers are also incredibly thankful to receive them. This is a perfect example of our community giving back and the investment in our future generations.”

Nathan Littauer Enhances Patient Care with New Infusion Pumps

GLOVERSVILLE, NY Nathan Littauer Hospital & Nursing Home has recently acquired new infusion pumps from B Braun Medical Inc., a leading provider of medical technologies. This upgrade in hospital technology means safer care for Nathan Littauer patients.

“We are thrilled to integrate Braun’s innovative technology into our patient care services,” said Nathan Littauer President and CEO Sean Fadale, FACHE. “Our commitment to providing high-quality care to our patients requires that we continuously improve our processes, reduce the chance of errors, and adopt the latest advancements in medical technology. Our new infusion pumps are a perfect example of this, and we are confident they will benefit both our patients and our staff.”

With the latest infusion pump technology from B Braun Medical Inc., the hospital will be able to provide its patients fluids and therapies, with enhanced precision and safety features. The new infusion pumps will enable the hospital’s medical staff to administer medications and fluids to patients more accurately and efficiently – resulting in better patient outcomes and fewer complications. The Infusomat® Space 2nd Generation Large Volume Pumps have state-of-the-art safety features; including alarms to alert staff to potential errors, and advanced programming capabilities that enable the precise delivery of medication dosages. The pumps are paired with advanced infusion software, creating an integrated system that delivers real-time data, electronic reporting, and automatic notifications.

“Our staff are undergoing extensive training on the new equipment to ensure they are proficient in its use before our launch date,” said Nathan Littauer Pharmacy Director David Schaff, PharmD, CDE. “In the coming weeks, staff will be able to manage the infusion pumps with ease.”

The pump project was funded by donations from the Nathan Littauer Foundation and a matching gift from the Johnstown Hospital Foundation. Together, the two organizations met the $233,000 need.

“The acquisition of Braun’s infusion pumps aligns with the hospital’s goal of continuously enhancing patient care and safety,” adds Schaff. “Nathan Littauer is always investing in the latest technology for the betterment of our patients. Eventually, these new pumps will be integrated with our EMR – allowing providers to quickly access real-time data. Without the Nathan Littauer Foundation and the Johnstown Hospital Foundation, this would not have been possible. We are grateful for their recognition of the importance of this project.”

Internally, Nathan Littauer staff are celebrating the launch date of the organization’s new infusion pumps on May 4, 2023. Other engagement activities for Nathan Littauer staff are slated up until the launch date.

“It is our promise to keep our patients safe and help them heal,” said Nathan Littauer Foundation Executive Director and Vice President of Business Development Geoffrey Peck. “Even in a challenging fiscal environment, our hospital needs to remain up to date with industry standards. Thankfully, donors have supported our Foundation and allowed us to cover this cost.”

More information about Nathan Littauer Hospital’s new Infusomat® Space 2nd Generation Large Volume Pumps will be forthcoming. Additional updates will be shared on the hospital’s website and social media.
