Littauer’s Foundation Announces Largest Event of the Year

The EVENT will celebrate 125 years of serving the community

GLOVERSVILLE, NEW YORK (May 13, 2019)  – The Nathan Littauer Foundation is releasing details of The EVENT, a gala designed to support the hospital’s expansion and mission for improved access to world-class healthcare. “This gala gives us the opportunity celebrate 125 years of serving this community while we also share our vision for the future,” stated Geoff Peck, Executive Director of the Foundation. He added, “It also happens to be a really fun party.”

The EVENT, benefiting Nathan Littauer Hospital will be held Friday, June 7, 2019 at 7 p.m. at the Hales Mills Country Club in Johnstown, NY. The signature fundraiser will feature a more relaxed Caddyshack theme suitable for its golf course location.

Always well attended, The EVENT is “a great party for a great cause.”

With an inspired menu and décor, THE EVENT will highlight the culinary talents of Executive Chef Brad Saunders. The décor will be the vision of event decorator Deb McFarland. Silent auction items including art and travel packages will be available, and a 50/50 raffle will give guests a chance to have a winning evening.

Last year, generous support helped the Nathan Littauer Hospital Foundation raise more than $130,000.

“This year we are asking for support to bring our Medical Arts Building to fruition,” explained Mr. Peck. “Our community needs improved access to world-class medical care. This 12,000 square-foot facility on our hospital campus will perfectly address the on-going needs of our community.”

A signature of The EVENT is amazing food.

People of all ages are encouraged to join the hospital for a great party for a great cause. General admission tickets start at just $125. Patron tickets are $250.00 per person. Tickets can also be purchased online by visiting: https://www.nlh.org/giving/2019-event

JOHNSTOWN — Supporters of Nathan Littauer Hospital wandered through a garden themed Holiday Inn in Johnstown Friday night during The Event fundraiser.
Held annually for more than 15 years, the gala draws hundreds from around the region to enjoy an evening of sophistication and elegance while raising funds for hospital projects.
According to NLH’s Vice President of Development Geoff Peck, The Event drew more people this year than ever. More than 290 attended, breaking the previous record of 220.

President and CEO Laurence Kelly greeted guests upon arrival. He stood next to a display of succulents with a sign that read “Grow with Us” and encouraged guests to take a plant home. The theme of the night was garden party, and it was designed by Broadalbin native artist Deb MacFarland. The floral arrangements were done by Studio Herbage in Johnstown.
“This is by far the largest turnout,” Kelly said. “It’s great that the community is here to support the hospital. It’s heat warming to be in a community like this that is so supportive.”
Attendees of the event enjoyed food catered by the Holiday Inn and drinks at the bar. A silent auction of donated items gave participants a chance to bring something home with them while also contributing to the fundraiser.
State Assemblyman Marc Butler and Dottie MacVean made an appearance, among other officials such as Gloversville Mayor Dayton King. The officials mingled with hospital staff and area residents — with a common cause of raising funds to support the capital costs of NLH’s recently opened Gloversville Dialysis Center and soon to be opened primary care center in Fonda. Peck said the event generally raises $100,000.
“A lot of people have been interested in the projects we’re working on,” Peck said. “This is the first time dialysis has been offered in Fulton County and we’ve had a lot of support from the community in bringing a new service here that affects so many people.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Littauer’s THE EVENT 2010 explores the exotic

Supporters will journey down the Nile under a suradeq

without even leaving Johnstown

Gloversville, NY…The Foundation for Nathan Littauer Hospital has announced their plans for the 8th annual “EVENT”, a yearly fundraising gala supporting the hospital. THE EVENT will be held May 21, 2010 from 7-11 pm. This year, supporters will be treated to “A Journey Along The Nile”, in an extravagant setting under a suradeq(Arabic for tent). “A huge tent will be transformed into an Egyptian palace, immersing party goers with the sights, sounds and flavors of Egypt.” stated Cheryl Horowitz, THE EVENT Chair. “We have had some exciting themes in the past but I think this year will be over the top.” added Susan Kiernan, Vice President of Development for Littauer. She explained, “Simply put, it is a great party for a great cause.”

The Foundation will be providing food and entertainment designed to compliment the luxurious setting. The tent will be next to Ruby and Quiri, on Route 30A in Johnstown. People are encouraged to wear desert garb. According to event planners, there will be lounges and private tents and the entire venue will be accented with the colors, fabrics, and tastes of the exotic.

THE EVENT is a unique yearly gala, raising money to support the Hospital. Hundreds of people attend to support the cause, and in turn are treated to great music and entertainment. Every year THE EVENT features a different theme. Past themes have included: New York, New York, The Great Gatsby, An Evening on the Orient Express, and The Era of the Great Adirondack Camps. “And responses to THE EVENT are always extremely positive. Last year one attendee told us “This is the best event in our area, and the food was amazing!” stated Cheryl Horowitz.

“THE EVENT is not only a good party it is apparently a great regional success.” explained Laurence E. Kelly, Nathan Littauer Hospital’s CEO and President. This year, THE EVENT was ranked by the Capital District Business Review’s Book of Lists as The 25th Most Profitable One-day Fundraising Event. He added, “We are proud of that distinction, however I can tell you that almost a full year’s-worth of planning goes into THE EVENT. And we are always thrilled with the community’s response to this gala.” Proceeds from THE EVENT go directly to the hospital, helping to buy equipment and medical supplies for physicians and staff to continually improve patient care.

New this year, THE EVENT will offer a discount to young people in a category deemed “Aspiring Patron”. “We wanted younger professionals to experience THE EVENT and to learn about the hospital in the process.” Cheryl Horowitz said. “Aspiring patron” tickets are $75.00 and “Loyal Supporters” ticket prices are $125.00. “Super Patrons” tickets are $250.00. Also new this year, The Foundation is offering silent auctions to the entire community via the web. “Every year we have extraordinary raffles and auction items.” stated Susan Kiernan. “This year will be no different. However, this year we are offering the items through the web and our Face Book page. Our staff will act as buyers for anyone from anywhere who would like to bid on the items. I think that is exciting.”

Also new this year, the silent auction items and the raffle items will be available to all through the World Wide Web. “We are using the power of our website and Facebook to raise money for our hospital.” stated Susan Kiernan. Adding, “We did not want to limit the items to just the attendees and employees this year.” To see the items log on to https://www.nlh.org/nlhblog/nlh-photo-gallery for an online catalogue.

“Every year we are so grateful for the support we receive from the community.” Susan Kiernan said. “It is more than a party; it is simply a great cause.”
