Across the region, hospitals are experiencing staffing crises, compounded by vaccination mandates of healthcare workers. Nathan Littauer is no exception to this local and national trend. Despite staffing challenges, Nathan Littauer is focused on delivering care. The organization is responding by: actively creating contingency plans for each department, temporarily consolidating resources, enabling meaningful, daily communication between all staff, and participating in regular conference calls with ten regional hospitals. “At this point in our planning, we are not anticipating an interruption of services,” says Nathan Littauer President and CEO, Sean Fadale. “However, in this fluid situation that can change. We are bringing every resource to bear, and our staff are determined to meet patient needs. That said, with regional staffing shortage coupled with increasing acuity and patient volume, we are preparing for longer wait times in our emergency department, and sluggish transfers to level-one care centers. We are also preparing for strain on our Emergency Medical Services (EMS) system.”
While the healthcare organization is experiencing staffing shortages, Nathan Littauer has been, and continues to focus on their mission: providing high-quality healthcare services to its community members.
Currently, Nathan Littauer has an employee vaccination rate of 96 percent.
