 NURSING SUPERVISOR

Description:  The purpose of the Nursing Supervisor job is to coordinate the activities of the patient care units in a centralized nursing environment.  The Nursing Supervisor assists the Nurse Managers in departmental staffing on a daily basis, maintains approved standards of patient care within the Division of Nursing taking into account the individual patient’s special physical or age-related needs, investigates and resolves complaints and maintains a safe environment for staff and patients.  The Nursing Supervisor has responsibility for the operation of the entire hospital in the absence of Department Heads and Administration with the support of the designated “Administrator-on-call”.

Requires:

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program with Associate’s degree or diploma required.  Employee is trained and prepared to care for the age-specific group served on their assigned unit.
  • Prefer Bachelor of Science/Nursing degree.
  • Possess current NYS license for Registered Professional Nurse; American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications within the first six (6) months of hire or transfer.
  • Possess five (5) years of medical/surgical experience or equivalent.
  • Prefer two (2) years nursing management experience.

INTERNATIONAL BOARD CERTIFIED LACTATION OUTPATIENT SERVICES EDUCATOR

Description:   To provide overall coordination, planning and management of patient, family and staff education related to breastfeeding.  The IBCLC Outpatient Service Educator is an RN who assumes responsibility and accountability for the planning, priority setting, coordination and evaluation of the lactation services, of the patient care provided for designated patient populations.  IBCLC OSE assumes responsibility for the management of financial and material resources.  The IBCLC OSE adheres to the NLH mission and core values.  The IBCLC OSE has responsibility for the human resource and outcome management for the patient population treated in the lactation services and all NLH staff involved.  IBCLC OSE supports, plans, implements and evaluates the goals and policies of NLH.  

  • Graduation from an accredited Registered Nursing Program with an Associate’s degree or diploma.   Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC).
  • Prefer Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
  • Possess current NYS license for Registered Professional Nurse.
  • Possess current CLC certification; MUST obtain IBCLC Certification within one (1) year of hire.
  • Possess American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification (BLS), within six (6) months of hire.
  • Possess one (1) or more years of experience in obstetrics, pediatrics, antenatal or postpartum health care setting as a Registered Nurse.  One (1) year of pervious experience in managing billing and outpatient case load.

ASSISTANT NURSE MANAGER

Description:  The Assistant Nurse Manager is a Registered Nurse who works under the direction of the manager of a defined nursing department.   Develops and coordinates educational programs for assigned personnel, assists with the evaluation and discipline of employees, and participates in quality improvement activities.  The Assistant Nurse Manager can assume administrative responsibilities in the absence of the department Nurse Manager.  Work is performed in accordance with established hospital standards, nursing department/unit process and outcome standards, established regulatory and accreditation requirements, and consistent with the philosophy, goals and objectives of the hospital and nursing department.

Requires: 

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program with Associate’s degree or diploma.  Employee is trained and prepared to care for the age-specific group (i.e., neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric) served on their assigned unit.
  • Prefer Bachelor of Science/Nursing degree.
  • Possess current NYS license for Registered Professional Nurse.
  • Possess current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).  Possess medication competency certification.
  • Possess five (5) years of prior nursing experience, two of which are consistent with the type of patient population to be managed.
  • Prefer two (2) years in management experience.

Description: Renders nursing care to patients within an assigned unit under the clinical supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse, and in accordance with hospital/nursing home policies and objectives. Performs a wide variety of patient care services for assigned patients.

Requires:

  • HSD/GED
  • Successful completion/graduation from an accredited Practical Nurse Program
  • NYS LPN License ~ current and valid
  • BLS certified
  • Completion of IV course & blood administration course within 3 months of hire/accepting position

Description:  The Float Pool Licensed Practical Nurse II is a care provider who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame on an assigned unit within the limits of his/her education and the Nurse Practice Act taking into account the individual patient’s special physical or age-related needs.  The limits of the Licensed Practical Nurse II responsibility is defined by hospital policy in keeping with the New York State Code, Rules and Regulations and the NYS Education Department.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduation from an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse program or completion of required components to satisfy LPN licensing examination.
  • Employee is trained and prepared to care for the age-specific group served on their assigned unit.
  • Possess current NYS license for Licensed Practical Nurse.  American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within the first six (6) months of hire.  Completion of IV course, phlebotomy, blood administration course and EKG within six (6) months of hire.
  • One (1) or more years of previous experience in an acute hospital setting.

LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE 

Description:  The Primary Care Services Licensed Practical Nurse is a care provider who assumes responsibility and accountability for his/her patients within the limits of their education and the Nurse Practice Act taking into account the individual patient’s special physical or age-related needs.  The limits of the Licensed Practical Nurse’s responsibility is defined by Hospital policy in keeping with the New York State Code, Rules and Regulations and the New York State Education Department.

  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduation from an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse program or completion of required components to satisfy LPN licensing examination.
  • Valid New York State registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • Hospital approved certification in Intravenous Therapy procedures.
  • Basic Life Support within sixty (60) days of hire.
  • Possess current experience in venipuncture, administration of PFT’s, EKG’s, Nebulizer treatments, pulse oximetry and keyboarding.
  • Possess free vaccine experience and familiarity with administering pediatric vaccinations.
  • Prefer one (1) or more year’s previous Physician Office experience or previous experience in an outpatient setting.
  • Prefer current experience with Lucius/Meditech software.

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program with Associate’s Degree or diploma.  Employee is trained and prepared to care for the age-specific group (adult, geriatric) served on their assigned unit.
  • Prefer Bachelor of Science/Nursing degree.
