NURSE EDUCATOR CLINICAL COORDINATOR

Description:  To provide expertise as an educator, consultant, facilitator, change agent, leader and researcher.  Designs, develops, delivers and evaluates education and informatics strategies.  Coordinates orientation programs and initiatives based on patient’s department, organization and regulatory needs.  Performs as a clinical resource providing evaluation of the practice environment and quality of nursing care delivered and facilitates the generation and use of research and evidence based on nursing practice.  Aims to improve electronic health record accuracy and efficiency related to documentation and critical data analysis with the common goal of improving overall patient care.  Coordinates and teaches American Heart Classes and is the liaison for American Heart.  As part of Nursing Administration, functions may include clinical resource liaison with NYSED to clarify/resolve clinical practice issues.  Assists in the integration of electronic/written data, information and knowledge to support decision-making by patients and their healthcare providers.  Works with Education Department in planning of annual Competency Workshops.  Participates in DNV Accreditation activities and has knowledge of DNV requirements along with state and federal agencies.

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program with Associate’s degree or diploma.
  • Prefer Bachelor of Science Nursing Degree.  Nurse Educator Certification.
  • Current NYS license for Registered Professional Nurse.  American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) within the first six (6) months of hire.
  • Prefer three (3) years of acute care experience on a medical/surgical unit in a hospital setting.  One (1) year nurse management experience.  Previous Meditech application training experience.

 NURSING SUPERVISOR

Description:  The purpose of the Nursing Supervisor job is to coordinate the activities of the patient care units in a centralized nursing environment.  The Nursing Supervisor assists the Nurse Managers in departmental staffing on a daily basis, maintains approved standards of patient care within the Division of Nursing taking into account the individual patient’s special physical or age-related needs, investigates and resolves complaints and maintains a safe environment for staff and patients.  The Nursing Supervisor has responsibility for the operation of the entire hospital in the absence of Department Heads and Administration with the support of the designated “Administrator-on-call”.

Requires:

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program with Associate’s degree or diploma required.  Employee is trained and prepared to care for the age-specific group served on their assigned unit.
  • Prefer Bachelor of Science/Nursing degree.
  • Possess current NYS license for Registered Professional Nurse; American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications within the first six (6) months of hire or transfer.
  • Possess five (5) years of medical/surgical experience or equivalent.
  • Prefer two (2) years nursing management experience.
  • Possess a working knowledge of NYS Department of Health Code, Rules and Regulations, accreditation requirements, administrative policies, nursing structure standards, procedures and protocols, union contracts, child abuse reporting, OSHA, infection control, safety, body mechanics, scope of practice, documentation computers and communication systems.  Possess knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on their assigned unit.  Possess knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.

EMPLOYEE HEALTH INFECTION CONTROL COORDINATOR – RN

Description:  To coordinate and oversee all infection control and prevention related activities within the organization.  Responsible for an effective infection control program for the prevention of infection including hospital acquired infections.  Provides employee health services relative to provision of immunizations and testing under the direction of the supervising Nurse Practitioner and maintenance of employee health records. 

Requires:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • Possess current New York State license for Registered Professional Nurse.
  • Prefer Bachelor’s degree (BSN) high desirable.  Certification Board for Infection Control (CBIC) accreditation.  American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification (BLS).
  • Possess three (3) years experience working in clinical medicine, clinic or urgent care.
  • Possess a working knowledge of DNV, New York State Department of Health, OSHA, BBP Standard Infection Control/Employee Health requirements; DOH and EPA regulations relative to regulated medical waste.
  • Possess knowledge of epidemiologic principles and research on hospital associated infections.  Knowledge of hospital policies and procedures.  Knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan in order to provide appropriate care/intervention/education to the staff and the patient population.  Knowledge of adult education principles.  Knowledge of computer operations.

ASSISTANT NURSE MANAGER

Description:  The Assistant Nurse Manager is a Registered Nurse who works under the direction of the manager of a defined nursing department.   Develops and coordinates educational programs for assigned personnel, assists with the evaluation and discipline of employees, and participates in quality improvement activities.  The Assistant Nurse Manager can assume administrative responsibilities in the absence of the department Nurse Manager.  Work is performed in accordance with established hospital standards, nursing department/unit process and outcome standards, established regulatory and accreditation requirements, and consistent with the philosophy, goals and objectives of the hospital and nursing department.

Requires: 

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program with Associate’s degree or diploma.  Employee is trained and prepared to care for the age-specific group (i.e., neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric) served on their assigned unit.
  • Prefer Bachelor of Science/Nursing degree.
  • Possess current NYS license for Registered Professional Nurse.
  • Possess current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).  Possess medication competency certification.
  • Possess five (5) years of prior nursing experience, two of which are consistent with the type of patient population to be managed.
  • Prefer two (2) years in management experience.

Description:  The Float Pool Licensed Practical Nurse II is a care provider who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame on an assigned unit within the limits of his/her education and the Nurse Practice Act taking into account the individual patient’s special physical or age-related needs.  The limits of the Licensed Practical Nurse II responsibility is defined by hospital policy in keeping with the New York State Code, Rules and Regulations and the NYS Education Department.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduation from an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse program or completion of required components to satisfy LPN licensing examination.
  • Employee is trained and prepared to care for the age-specific group served on their assigned unit.
  • Possess current NYS license for Licensed Practical Nurse.  American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within the first six (6) months of hire.  Completion of IV course, phlebotomy, blood administration course and EKG within six (6) months of hire.
  • One (1) or more years of previous experience in an acute hospital setting.

Description:  The purpose of the Nursing Supervisor job is to coordinate the activities of the resident care units.  The Nursing Supervisor assists the clinical coordinator in departmental staffing on a daily basis, maintains approved standards of resident care within the Department of Nursing taking into account the individual resident’s special physical or age-related needs, and the investigation and resolution of complaints.  The Nursing Supervisor has responsibility for the operation of the entire Nursing Home in the absence of Administration with the support of the designated Director of Nursing on call.

Requires: 

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program with Associate’s Degree or diploma.  Employee is trained and prepared to care for the age-specific group (adult, geriatric) served on their assigned unit.
