Patient Accounts Counselor

JOB PURPOSE: Verification that all patients have proper insurance coverage necessary to cover the costs of receiving hospital care or to arrange some other mechanism for payment to ensure that the Hospital will receive payment.  Gathers all information needed in order to complete the billing process. Assist walk in patients with questions on their accounts. Updates Meditech with insurance information supplied by patient services.

EDUCATION:  Possess a High School diploma or equivalent. 

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:   None

EXPERIENCE:  No prior experience is required; however, one (1) year of prior experience in hospital patient billing is desirable.  If no prior experience, six months of on-the-job training will be provided.

SHIFT: 40 Hours

IPA Navigator

Description:  The purpose/goal of our program is to educate and assist individuals in a fair, accurate, impartial and linguistically appropriate manner to enroll and recertify individuals online in the New York State of Health Insurance Marketplace.

  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Currently possess or ability to obtain licensure/certification from NYSDOH within two (2) months of transfer or hire.
  • Possess a valid NYS drivers license.
  • Proficient working in a Microsoft Office environment including Excel.  Ability to conduct research with attention to details.

Status:  8:30am – 5:00pm (40 hours)

From:  $18.85 to $21.85 hour.

Patient Access Representative

Description:  The purpose of this job is to perform all aspects of patient intake from scheduling appointments, insurance verification, pre-registration, pre-certification, medical necessity verification and copay/deductible collection.

  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prefer one (1) or two (2) years of college with completion of an approved program in medical terminology.
  • Possess previous experience in health care delivery system with exposure to patient registration.
  • Prefer prior experience with patient scheduling or unit coordinator.  Knowledge of third party payors desired.

Status:  9:30am – 6:00pm (40 hours)

Registration Representative

Description:  The purpose of this job is to perform all aspects of patient intake.  Accurately gather insurance, demographic and diagnostic information for the proper methodology of billing.

  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prefer one (1) or two (2) years of college with completion of an approved program in medical terminology.
  • Possess one (1) or two (2) years experience in a healthcare related field.  Must have exceptional public relation skills as well as interpersonal skills.
  • Prefer knowledge of third party payors.

Status:    3:00pm – 6:30pm (17.5 hours)

$17.03 – $20.03 per hour.
