Recreation Therapy AideDescription: The purpose of this job is: to assist in planning, organizing and implementing the activities pro-gram to meet the physical, mental and spiritual needs of the residents, taking into account the individual resident’s special physical or age-related needs.Requires:Possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Employee is trained and prepared to care for the age-specific group served on their assigned unit.Possess clearance through the New York State Control Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment.Must possess current New York State Nurse Aide CertificationPreferred: Possess an AAS degree in human services.Experience: Possess two (2) or more years experience working on a social level within geriatric population. Status: 1:30pm – 8:00pm (25 hours)
Director of Recreation TherapyDescription: The purpose of this job is to provide a strong well-organized recreation program to meet the social, emotional, physical and cognitive needs of the residents seven (7) days a week taking into account the individual resident’s special physical or age-related needs. To develop programming to stimulate individual interests in meaningful activities. To provide a therapeutic environment for all residents. Possess a Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a major in therapeutic recreation or a major in recreation with an option in therapeutic recreation.Prefer Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in therapeutic recreation or a major in recreation with an option in therapeutic recreation.Certification as a Recreation Therapist. Clearance through the New York State Control Register or Child Abuse and Maltreatment.Prefer three (3) years experience as a Recreational Therapist.Possess a working knowledge of Federal and State Medicare and Medicaid conditions of participation; New York State Codes, Rules and Regulations.Status: 8:00am – 4:30pm (40 hours) Hours will fluctuate depending on departmental needs.
