Gloversville, NY…Nathan Littauer Hospital announced their Employee of the Quarter recently. Steve Davison, who is an Accounts Payable Coordinator at the hospital, was selected for the award. “He is noted for going ‘above and beyond’ and embodying the Littauer mission” stated Hospital CEO and President, Laurence E. Kelly. Steve was surprised to learn of the recognition in an organization-wide celebration last month.

According to one employee, Steve’s efforts promote a “people for people” caring environment. On several occasions Steve creates several flower arrangements using hundreds of flowers from his own garden. He lovingly brings them to common areas of the hospital. For example, this spring, every table in the cafeteria was adorned with a tulip arrangement, filling the room with a personal touch which resonated throughout the hospital. One employee, Sue McNeil explained that when she saw the flowers in the cafeteria, “…not only did it put a smile on my face, I watched other staff, visitors and patients all react to the beautiful flowers. Steve brightened the days of many people with his generous gift of tulips.” Another coworker wondered, “Imagine how patients and visitors felt as they sat down and saw the beautifully decorated tables. They would not know an employee took the time to cut flowers from his own garden, bring them in and decorate the entire cafeteria.”

Upon hearing the news of his award. Steve said, “I was blessed with my mother’s sense of humor and my father’s sense of duty. Thank you very much for this recognition.” Later he said, “For 15 years I have worked with some great people. In fact, the best part of my job is working closely with so many different teams. Although I may seem far removed from direct patient care, I feel like an important part of our mission here at Nathan Littauer.”

Hospital spokesperson Cheryl McGrattan added, “The sheer number of flowers and vases, makes his efforts Herculean, yet it is something he does with such grace and artistic flare. We are lucky to have Steve as a member of the Littauer team.”

Steve will enjoy a gift from Littauer and a special parking spot for the quarter.
