Scholarships and Tuition Reimbursement

  1. Announcement:
    1. Internal – NLH will announce available scholarships and tuition reimbursement programs annually through communications, the hospital website, and other appropriate channels.
    2. Education partners – Informational materials will be distributed to partner sites by March 31st of each year.
  1. Submission Deadline:
    All application materials must be submitted by the specified deadline. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

    1. Internal application – accepted by Nathan Littauer’s Human Resources Team on a rolling basis.
    2. Education partners – applications due to Nathan Littauer’s Human Resources Team by May 1st of each year.
  1. Review Process:
    1. Human Resources will review applications for eligibility and completeness.
      1. Internal – Reviewed in a timely manner.
      2. External – Review completed by May 9th of each year.
    2. Reviewed and accepted packages will be forwarded to the Vice President of Business Development.
    3. A scholarship and Tuition Reimbursement Review Committee, appointed by Nathan Littauer’s Administrative members, will evaluate applications.
    4. Applications will be assess based on eligibility criteria, academic success, priority positions, and the strength of supporting documents.
    5. The committee may conduct interviews or request additional information if necessary.
  1. Selection and Notification:
    1. The Review Committee will select recipients based on the evaluation process for reach scholarship or tuition reimbursement program.
      1. Internal – Candidates will be informed of funding decisions in a timely manner.
      2. External – Candidates will be notified by May 10th of each year.
    2. Selected candidates will be notified in writing or via email.
  1. Acceptance and Agreement:
    1. Recipients must formally accept the scholarship or Tuition Reimbursement offer and sign an agreement detailing the terms and conditions, including the post-education employment commitment.
  1. Disbursement of Funds:
    1. Upon approval, scholarship funds will be disbursed directly to the educational institution or loan service agency for tuition, fees, or other approved educational expenses.
      1. Internal – Upon approval.
      2. External – Upon successful completion of probationary work period.
    2. Tuition reimbursement may be provided to employees according to NLH’s reimbursement policy upon submission of eligible expenses and proof of completion of the agreed-upon education program.
  1. Post-Education Employment Commitment:
    1. Recipients of scholarships or tuition reimbursement must fulfill the agreed-upon employment commitment at NLH following the completion of their education. Failure to do so will convert outstanding fund commitments to loans at .5% interest.
