Nurse Manager – Medical/SurgicalThe Nurse Manager is the first line manager designated as the leader for a specified nursing unit, its patient population, and the assigned staff. The Nurse Manager has 24-hour responsibility and accountability for all patient care activities taking into account the individual patient’s special physical or age-related needs. Work is performed in accordance with established hospital standards, nursing department/unit process and outcome standards, established regulatory and accreditation requirements, and consistent with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the hospital and nursing department.EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited nursing program with associate’s degree or diploma. Employee is trained and prepared to care for the age-specific group {i.e.: neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric} served on their assigned unit.PREFERRED: Bachelor of Science/Nursing Degree.LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: Current NYS license for Registered Professional Nurse; American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) within the first six (6) months of hire.
