The Nurse Manager is the first line manager designated as the leader for a specified nursing unit, its patient population, and the assigned staff.  The Nurse Manager has 24-hour responsibility and accountability for all patient care activities taking into account the individual patient’s special physical or age-related needs.

Work is performed in accordance with established hospital standards, nursing department/unit process and outcome standards, established regulatory and accreditation requirements, and consistent with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the hospital and nursing department.

EDUCATION:   Graduation from an accredited nursing program with Associate’s degree or diploma.  Employee is trained and prepared to care for the age-specific group (neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric) served on their assigned unit.

PREFERRED:     Bachelor of Science Nursing degree or Master’s degree.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION / REGISTRATION:  Current NYS license for Registered Professional Nurse; American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within the first six (6) months.   Medication competency certification.  Five (5) years of prior nursing experience.

PREFERRED:    Certification in area of practice.  (Consistent with the type of patient population to be managed) Two (2) years in management experience.  American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

SHIFT:  6:45AM – 3:15PM        FULL TIME: 40 HOURS (Hours will fluctuate based on departmental needs)

PAY RATE: $37.85 – $50.48
