“I had knee surgery yesterday at the surgical center at Nathan Littauer Hospital. I had a great experience there. The staff was unbelievably professional and courteous and could’nt have been nicer to me for my outpatient surgery. I had an acupuncture treatment, and scheduled another in three weeks. I like Dr. Dowling. He took time to get to know me and my concerns, and answered all my questions. He gave me a “thumbnail report” on acupuncture. I learned a few things! I am grateful that once again, NLH came through for me.

I would like to let you know just how much I appreciate how well you run your hospital. Today, January 16, 2012, I had an appointment for a couple of tests (withheld to protect privacy) at 8:45am and another at 11:30am. When I was done with my test your employee helped me by getting me back into my wheelchair. She then asked me where I wanted to go, and I told her about the test at 11:30am. She asked me if I could wait a minute, and I said yes. Within 3 minutes she was back and she told me that she had talked to department and they could take me now while their other patient was filling out paper work. How nice can you get? I really felt special. She wheeled me over and took me to the window so that I could sign paperwork, and then she said goodbye and wished me luck. I thanked her from the bottom of my heart for doing both things for me. She was wonderful during the test, talked me right thru it, and was constantly asking if I was ok. And then she went going out of her way to help me out with the next test. Then I met John, a technician, and again a wonderful employee. Very kind and considerate and helpful, knowing the pain that I was in. Needless to say he made my experience a good experience. Thank you again for hiring two wonderful employees, who not only do their jobs, but put a lot extra into it also. So far all my experiences at NL have been excellent ones.

“Nurse Maureen introduced herself to me, explained what was going to be taking place and answered all my questions without hesitation and with pure honesty. She was gentle and kind and made me feel perfectly at ease . . . Nathan Littauer Hospital should be very proud of the New Birthing Facility they have established. The staff is top-notch and we look forward to utilizing the Birthing Center in the future. Thank you for providing excellent care and staff to your patients.”

“I was a recent patient of your emergency room and I wanted to comment on the service I received. I have to say I was extremely impressed. The minute I got there I was immediately treated. The new rooms are beautiful, clean and the atmosphere was comfortable – taking that “white coat” fear out of ones mind. Everyone addressed my needs and made sure I was comfortable. The nurse even asked me if I was hungry, which I really was so I greatly appreciated the food! I even laughed when I received the food because it was really good!
In any case, I wanted to thank everyone there for being so caring and making me just “feel” better. I was scared to be there, but in the end I was relieved that I was ok.”

Although your wonderfully renovated department was inundated with many, many emergencies; the physicians and staff were consistent in their professionalism and service. As a former administrator to the medical staff of two California hospitals, I am perhaps a bit more aware of hospital performance. It certainly appeared that everyone acted in the highest level of their expertise. We would like to thank you and your staff for the excellent care and attention recently provided.”

“Words can never express what you ahve done for me. I feel great. You took the time to make sure that I was safe and stayed that way. YOu really went above and beyond your call of duty. For that I am grateful. I am glad you are my doctor.”
“…It was by far the best mammogram I have ever had! When I have had mammograms at XXX (another hospital) I have been so uncomfortable. The technician at Littauer told me that because of the digital equipment they use, they have they do not have to press down as hard. And it was fast! My appointment was at 10:30, I filled out my paperwork and by 10:32 I was in. They are the best!”

“I was a patient at NLH/ER yesterday (June 29, 2010) after breaking my arm in a fall. Since I cannot type, I asked my husband to convey my appreciation on my behalf. From the moment of my arrival, all of the staff was attentive and professional and focused on my needs. Both the ER and Radiology/Xray staff made my discomfort more bearable. Special appreciation to ER RN Brandi Maye, Dr. Gorgas and attending RN Kathleen Possillico. Please extend a big thank you to all. I could not have been treated any better. As bad as it was it was for me it was really a great experience. And they were also so nice to my husband. I am feeling better and am awaiting a full recovery. Thank you.”

A letter to Priscilla Person in Diagnostic Imaging
“Last week, our oldest daughter experienced some health issues, requiring transportation to Nathan Littauer Hospital. She was admitted to pediatrics for two days. She is well again now.
We have many people to thank. First, a special thanks to ASFC’s Don Frye and Wayne Allan. You guys were awesome, both true professionals. We will never forget all that you did for us, especially the quick response time. Thanks for staying with me in the ED and reassuring me. Thanks seems so inadequate at this time. We are very lucky as a community to have people like you in the field.
Thanks so very much to Dr. Laurie Gorgas, ED. Your kind words and professional, caring manner all mean the world to me. You did a great job with her.
Thanks to Eileen and Chantelle, and all of you who were on duty. You are great nurses. I’m so proud of you.
Thanks to all the fine ladies in pediatrics. You took great care of Taylor and the rest of us, too.

We were allowed to stay there around the clock. We (the patient’s family) were treated with incredible kindness and accommodation. We were offered an endless supply of coffee and Danish, the comfort of blanket and pillows and all was offered with courtesy and a smile.
