Frequently Asked Questions

Lab

Can I get a copy of my lab results?

No, the laboratory is unable to provide test results to the patient without the prior written authorization from the ordering physician.

Per NYSDOH regulations (Part 58-1 of 10 NYCRR Clinical Laboratories) 58-1.8 Results of test to be reported only to physicians… Reports shall not be issued to the patients concerned except with the written consent of the physician… except that information concerning blood type and Rh type factor may be provided in writing to the individual whose blood was tested.

As an alternative, patients may obtain copies of their health records through the Health Information Management Department. Out-patient lab results may be obtained through your ordering provider.

Do I need to be registered?

Yes, all patients must be registered to obtain laboratory tests. The patient may register in advance by simply calling the Patient Access Department at 775-4250, or stop at the Registration department in the main lobby prior to going to the laboratory.

I have a standing order, why do I have to register every month?

Accounts for standing orders must be set up each month after verifying patient information. Each month we assign patients a new account number. This assures patient safety and billing accuracy. However, once we obtain all your patient information the process moves very quickly.

Do I have to register for this specimen since I’m only dropping it off?

Yes, all patients must be registered for laboratory tests to be performed, even with drop-off specimens. The patient may register in advance by simply calling the Patient Access department at 775-4250, or stop at the Registration Department in the main lobby prior to going to the laboratory.
