The Birthing Center at announces the Littauer Leapster Posted on March 17, 2016 by Dakota PikeGLOVERSVILLE – Paisley Raye Carpenter made her grand entrance into this world at 9:32 a.m. on Feb. 29, 2016. Waiting until a week after her due-date, she was born at Nathan Littauer Hospital’s Birthing Center on the 2016 Leap Year. She is the daughter of Dallas and Dan Carpenter of Johnstown, and joins a two-year-old brother Ryder. “I haven’t even thought about how we will spend her first birthday,” said Dallas Carpenter. “I know people with birthdays on Feb. 28 and March 1. We may just choose any special day, like St Patrick’s Day? We will do something big every four years for sure,” she added. Feb. 29 pops up every four years to keep up with the disparity in the Gregorian calendar and the earth’s rotation around the sun. Earth’s complete orbit around the sun takes exactly 365.2422 days. Every four years we need to add a day to our 365 day calendar year to keep us in sync with clocks, calendars and seasons. “I was told by people that I would probably have the baby on Leap Year. Littauer announces the Goodwill Employee of the Quarter Posted on February 16, 2016 by Dakota PikeGLOVERSVILLE – Nathan Littauer Hospital & Nursing Home has announced their Goodwill Employee of the 2015 fourth-quarter. Barbara Hill, a 27 year Littauer employee, currently a medical receptionist in OB/GYN Primary Care Center was the recipient.“We all touch patients in one way or another here at Littauer,” said NLH President and CEO Laurence E. Kelly. “Barb is one of our employees who emulates our core values, and one whose actions we choose to celebrate.”Hill’s co-workers, friends and family joined her in the NHL cafe for the recent announcement. Hill was nominated by her peers, who welcome her constant smile, her true care and compassion, and her love of patients.“I love working here,” said Hill. “I’ll be here forever.” She added, “After 27 years, I have seen so many great co-workers awarded; I never expected to be one of them.”Nominations for the award are made by NLH employees, providers or patients, and then submitted to the Goodwill Committee. Littauer presents their first baby of 2016 Posted on February 16, 2016 by Dakota PikeGLOVERSVILLE – The Birthing Center at Nathan Littauer Hospital & Nursing Home announces the arrival of the first baby of the New Year 2016. Raymond Emile Meyer III, son of Brianna Perez of Gloversville and Raymond Emile Meyer II, was born at 8:26 a.m. on Jan. 2, 2016, weighing six pounds, seven ounces. He is the couple’s first child.On Jan. 4, members of the Nathan Littauer Hospital & Nursing Home Auxiliary presented the couple with a gift of supplies and necessities worth over $350, a special presentation the auxiliary has done for over 30 years.Seated is Littauer’s first baby of 2016, Raymond Emile Meyer III, held by his mother Briana Perez if Gloversville. Friends of the Gloversville Public Library celebrate with Littauer’s Birthing Center Posted on February 15, 2016 by Dakota PikeGLOVERSVILLE – In celebration of National Friends of Libraries Week in October, the Friends of the Gloversville Public Library presented the first baby born that week at The Birthing Center at Nathan Littauer Hospital with a basket of books and gifts. Kendrick John Lee Ford was born on Sunday, Oct. 21 at 8:07 a.m., making him the gift recipient. He is the son of Alexis Ford of Gloversville. He joins a 3-year-old brother A’dante.Presenter Jean LaPorta, President Friends of the Gloversville Public Library, said the organization does this activity annually for the first baby born at Littauer during National Friends of Libraries Week.“We really enjoy doing this” Krawczeski said. “We hope these books will encourage a love of reading in the child and they will choose to visit our library,” she added.The gift is made available through library donations. Friends of the Gloversville Public Library Vice President Jean LaPorta, was also a presenter to the Ford family.Alexis Ford of Gloversville with her new born son Kendrick John Lee are the recipients of the Friends of the Gloversville Public Library gift basket at Littauer’s Birthing Center during National Friends of Libraries Week in October.
