GLOVERSVILLE, NY — Nathan Littauer Hospital & Nursing Home is proud to announce Mary Valachovic, as their Fourth Quarter Goodwill Award recipient for 2019!

Employees of Nathan Littauer took a short break from their regular work schedule to celebrate their “Employee of the Quarter” during a gathering February 6. President and CEO of Littauer, Laurence E. Kelly, had many positive things to say about Valachovic before surprising her with the award:

“This employee is hard-working and organized. Her charming personality and her gracious attitude make her a pleasure to work with. She’s helpful to anyone that asks her for assistance. These qualities and her ‘can-do’ attitude make her the epitomical employee of Nathan Littauer.”

Once Valachovic was named the award recipient, she was congratulated and presented with an engraved plaque. Overwhelmed with joy, she found her close friends, colleagues, and family surrounding her for her achievement.

Valachovic is an employee of Littauer’s Medical Records, Employee Health, and Performance Improvement Department. She has worked with Littauer for 16 years. After hearing Valachovic’s accomplishments, staff gave her a standing ovation.

A peer who nominated Valachovic explained: “Mary has an endless supply of friendliness. We’re so lucky to have her on our team at Littauer. Her values, work ethic, pleasant personality, and her dependability make her a valuable employee of Littauer.

Afterwards, Valachovic received many positive comments, commendations, and well-wishes from employees and friends.

Along with her plaque, Valachovic receives a monetary gift, as well as a designated parking spot on the hospital’s campus.

The mission of The Goodwill Award is to recognize goodwill and promote the “People Caring for People” environment toward co-workers, patients and the community of Nathan Littauer Hospital & Nursing Home.

Phil Guild as 2019 Third Quarter Goodwill Award Recipient

Nathan Littauer Hospital & Nursing Home is proud to announce Phil Guild, RN, as the Third Quarter Goodwill Award recipient for 2019!

After being congratulated and presented with the award, Phil was momentarily speechless and overwhelmed with excitement. While smiling, he said, “I am very surprised!”

Laurence E. Kelly, President and CEO, presented Phil with the award November 13, during a gathering at Nate’s Café.

Interestingly, Phil was nominated for the Goodwill Award by a relative of a patient. Thanks to Phil’s efforts, not only was the patient extremely happy with the care received, but the family members were moved by Phil’s kind and caring expertise.

The family commended Phil for being gentle, patient, and compassionate. Always humble, Phil replied that he was “Just doing his job.”

Upon hearing Phil’s story, employees gave Phil a standing ovation for his heartwarming behavior. Afterwards, Phil received many positive comments, commendations, and a plaque recognizing his achievement.

“Phil is very good at what he does,” says Mr. Kelly. “It is not unusual for Phil to assist a patient in any way he can. It’s this type of quality care that makes us proud of our staff and their integrity.”

Tara Keane named as Second Quarter Goodwill Award recipient

Nathan Littauer Hospital & Nursing Home is proud to announce Tara Keane, Medical Technologist, as the Second Quarter Goodwill Award recipient for 2019!

After being congratulated and presented with the award, Tara said, “I am extremely happy to work at Nathan Littauer. As an employee, I am provided with the opportunity to give back to my community. I’m also lucky to have such a supportive team to work with. I can always rely on them.”

Tara Keane graduated from Alfred State College of New York and SUNY Fredonia, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology (BSMT). Soon after, Tara continued her studies at St. Mary’s School of Science Engineering and Technology as an intern. She joined Nathan Littauer Hospital in 1994.

Kelly, President and CEO, presented Tara with the award August 7, during an employee gathering at Nate’s Café. “Tara was nominated for the Goodwill Award by many co-workers and department staff. She is the right-hand helper to give the best patient care we can provide. She is good at what she does,” says Mr. Kelly.

Tara always assists anyone she can; she is hardworking and determined. She always helps patients understand medical procedures and terminology, and is always open to feedback.

Gloversville, NY –  Nathan Littauer Hospital & Nursing Home congratulates Barbara Garrigan, R.N., Staff Nurse Diagnostic Imaging, for receiving The Goodwill Award-Employee of the 4th Quarter for 2018.

Laurence E. Kelly, President and CEO of NLH, presented Barbara with the award on February 7th at a gathering of her peers. Mr. Kelly noted that she received a record-breaking 26 nominations from her from her co-workers.

Co-workers and patients alike stated Barbara is always kind and generous with her time, professional, caring and most compassionate, with one patient adding, “If Barb is a representation of how all NLH employees care for patients, then NLH has a very good thing going!”

Barbara has worked at NLH & NH since she was 19 years old. She will be celebrating 31 years in April of 2019. Upon receiving the award Barbara stated, “I couldn’t accept this award without including everyone in the department. Thank you for helping me do what I do.”

Littauer announces first Goodwill Award recipient of 2018

Littauer recently announced the 2018 first-quarter Goodwill Award winner. Littauer Medical Receptionist, working with Gloversville Family Practice, Annette Looman is the recipient.

Nathan Littauer Hospital & Nursing Home President and CEO, Laurence E. Kelly said, “Littauer has been impressed with what Annette has done since she started here nine years ago. She is an excellent member of our team who does an excellent job.”

According to Kelly, Looman has proven to be an exemplary employee. Co-workers nominated her for her dedication, kindness, reliability, commendable work ethic and knowledge. “She is always smiling and willing to help,” they said. “She is a true leader doing the work of three people with honor.”
